Fabrizio Romano claims Premier League clubs West Ham United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton, and Everton have all approached Stephy Mavididi’s agents over a possible summer move, as well as Olympique de Marseille from Ligue 1.
Any potential deal is still in the early stages, but Romano claims Mavididi could leave this summer. There are “good chances” of a transfer in the coming weeks.
The 24-year-old has spent the last couple of seasons with Montpellier, and he was having a particularly good campaign in 2021/22 – up until the end of January.
By January 23rd, Mavididi had eight goals and three assists in 22 appearances, mostly playing at left-wing. But he then picked up a knee injury ruling him out for over a month, and he struggled to get back into the same rhythm afterwards.
All the same, Premier League clubs have been linked with Mavididi all season. His late-season drop-off hasn’t done much to quell the speculation.
As well as the goals and assists in a top-five league from a player who is still young (he only turned 24 this week), Mavididi also brings the benefit of being homegrown.
Coming through the academies of Arsenal and Juventus, the former England u20 international certainly had an ideal upbringing for a young player. Perhaps we’ll see him back in his home country before long.
