Adrian Durham was left wowed by the Rangers fans and the atmosphere they were able to create in the Europa League against RB Leipzig.
The talkSPORT host was in attendance as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side completed their breath-taking 3-1 comeback against the Germans in Glasgow to reach the final.
Despite watching many games live, all over the world, Durham has insisted he has never experienced an atmosphere like the one that the Light Blues fans created that night.
He told talkSPORT: “Wow. The succession of cleverly worded Rangers songs, especially the Belinda Carlisle tribute to John Lundstram, were all sung so loud and proud you couldn’t help but be impressed.
“But when Lundstram scored the crucial goal the noise levels and the power of the Ibrox support went to a place I’ve never ever experienced at a football match in all my years watching the game all over the world.
“It’s a night that will stay with me forever.”
Those are the nights that will live long in the memory of Rangers fans. It still doesn’t feel real that the Gers not only reached the Europa League final but made a mockery of some of the continent’s best teams on their way.
Absolutely nobody gave them a chance of getting past Borussia Dortmund who at that stage was one of the favourites and from that point on they never looked back – sweeping aside Braga and Leipzig too without several key players and going behind in both legs.
That is where the power of Ibrox came in. Even with the club’s rich history of success, you would struggle to find many games with better atmospheres than the ones witnessed this season in the Europa League – especially in the semi-final as van Bronckhorst’s side booked their place in Seville.
It is a shame that they didn’t go all the way and lift the trophy but if the Bears continue on this path – major European success is not far away.
