Indian Super League (ISL) side, ATK Mohun Bagan on Saturday confirmed that star forward, David Williams will leave the club after two glorious years with them.
Williams who has vast experience of playing the game in Belgian and Australian top-flight leagues, established himself as one of their key players, scoring 16 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions during his two-year stay with the Mariners.
Williams struck up a deadly partnership with Roy Krishna up front and posed quite the threat for defenders, in conjunction with being a favourite amongst the ATK Mohun Bagan faithful.
For all the big, magical moments… for every time you made us smile…

While the Mariners might cherish several iconic moments of Williams, one such moment particularly stands out where he scored the fastest ever Hero ISL goal till date when the forward found the back of the net in just 12 seconds against Hyderabad FC in the 2021-22 campaign.
His departure will no doubt come as a big blow to head coach, Juan Ferrando considering that his side made it to the Interzone semifinals of the AFC Cup and with the semifinals scheduled for September – the Mariners will miss Williams’ experience and composure in front of goal.
It will be interesting to see whether ATK Mohun Bagan bring in a like-for-like replacement in order to make sure that their their attacking firepower remains the same.
