Reported Liverpool target Darwin Nunez has been talking to several top Premier League sides ahead of a summer move.
This is according to FootballTransfers, who also claimed the Reds hold “genuine interest” in the Benfica star.
However, Liverpool are far from the only side reportedly eyeing Nunez.
As well as the Anfield outfit, the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham are also apparently in pursuit.
“Direct, quick, tall, strong”
Nunez has been making headlines this season for his incredible development and heroics with Benfica.
The Benfica ace registered a staggering 34 goals and four assists from just 41 senior appearances for his club.
Nunez also got six goals in 10 Champions League outings, testament to his quality and suitability for the highest level.
He was a major thorn in Liverpool’s side, scoring twice against Jurgen Klopp’s outfit in the quarter-finals.
Anfield star Virgil van Dijk recently admitted that Nunez is one of the toughest opponents he’s ever faced.
Rio Ferdinand asked him this week on FIVE to name the toughest player he’s been up against.
Van Dijk named several players, including Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi, before commenting on Nunez.
“Darwin… very direct, quick, tall, strong, it’s quite difficult to play against those guys.”
Liverpool always proactive in transfers
Liverpool’s Luis Diaz signing in January showed just how proactive they are in the transfer market.
The Reds weren’t planning to sign him until the summer.
But after hearing Tottenham were attempting to move, they leapt into action and snapped him up.
In addition, Liverpool’s front line was amazing even before Diaz arrived.
But with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah out of contract in 2023, you never know.
Signing Nunez would make an incredible front line even better.
And if one or two of the aforementioned Anfield attackers leave this summer, it wouldn’t be a catastrophe.
“He is going to leave”
Nunez will “100 percent” leave Benfica this summer, according to popular journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano told his Here We Go podcast that the 22-year-old has made his mind up to leave the Portuguese club.
Romano explained: “He had an incredible season. He made a decision. He is going to leave Benfica this summer, 100 percent.
“I see many rumours about him but I am told he is really tempted by the Premier League, he would love a Premier League move.
“This summer, let’s see what happens, many clubs interested.”
