Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is reportedly on the radar of Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.
Le10 Sport – via Sport Witness – has claimed that Les Rennais are ‘trying everything’ to land the Gunners striker.
Lacazette’s Arsenal contract expires at the end of the month and he looks likely to leave the Emirates for free.
The Gunners paid Lyon a reported £52million to sign the 31-year-old back in July 2017.
Lacazette has made 206 competitive Arsenal appearances, registering 71 goals and 36 assists.
However, he dropped out of regular starting contention late last season, Mikel Arteta favouring Eddie Nketiah.
While Nketiah has penned a new Arsenal contract, it looks as though Lacazette will be leaving.
Lyon are reportedly hoping to land their former forward, but Rennes are apparently in pursuit as well.
Le10 Sport’s headline claims that Rennes are ‘trying everything’ to sign Lacazette.
The Arsenal man is ‘right at the top of the pile’ of Florian Maurice’s list, according to the French outlet.
Maurice also knows ‘the player well’ and ‘dreams of making him come to Brittany’.
However, this all remains a ‘complex affair’, considering where he currently plays and the money he is earning there.
In addition, Lyon have the advantage of being Lacazette’s former club and one he loves dearly.
However, Rennes finished higher than Lyon – fourth compared to eighth – and will be playing in the Europa League.
“We will continue until the end”
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has spoken on several occasions this year about potentially re-signing Lacazette.
Back in February, the Lyon chief claimed he’ll do his best to sign the Arsenal man this summer.
In May he revealed that Lyon will even make compromises to bring Lacazette back.
Aulas said in a press conference, as quoted by GFFN: “If we need to make compromises to get him, we will.”
Director of Football Vincent Ponsot added: “We will continue until the end, it’s a desire for us [to bring Lacazette back].”
