According to Tutto Mercato Web, Newcastle and Everton are interested in bringing New York City forward Valentin Castellanos to the Premier League.
What’s the story?
Well, the 23-year-old finished as Major League Soccer’s top scorer last term, winning the Golden Boot after netting 19 goals in 32 appearances.

Castellanos has continued his fine form in the current campaign with seven goals in ten games, which has seemingly attracted the interest of Newcastle and Everton.
Tutto Mercato Web believe River Plate are also interested, and have already submitted a €14m (£12m) bid for the Argentine.
Bologna are also hoping to sign Castellanos, a player who was being tracked by West Ham earlier this year.
Interestingly, the South American forward has been likened to Didier Drogba, who – as you will know – took England by storm with Chelsea.
If Castellanos can replicate even a fraction of what the Ivorian achieved in the Premier League, he will be a great addition for Eddie Howe or Frank Lampard.
Newcastle could force Everton into a deal
In our view, it’s possible that the Magpies could force Everton into doing business with New York City.
It has been said that Newcastle are also interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi look to find a new Alan Shearer.
If that move materialises, Lampard will need a replacement, and he could well turn to Castellanos to be that man.
However, he must be cautious.
The last player to shine in the United States before coming to the Premier League was Miguel Almiron, who has struggled to replicate his success at Newcastle.
In 123 appearances for the Magpies, the Paraguay international has scored just 14 goals – an average of one strike every 8.8 games.
Of course, no two players are the same, although the difference in quality between both divisions should certainly be considered.
